Capability Building

Our Capability Building services are world class, achieving 100 percent recommendation scores. To create transformation from within we target both hearts and minds to disrupt people’s thinking, inspire and equip them with the tools and capabilities to be able to rewire their business and drive change forward.

Few training programmes deliver on rewire - creating tangible change - and we pride ourselves that tangible actions are baked into everything we do. Disrupt, inspire, rewire is Utopia’s unique 3-step methodology and it achieves inclusive culture success.

Some of our most popular and impactful capability building programmes, used by organisations such as Coca-Cola European Partners, Universal Music, Kellogg, Google, John Lewis, and Atlassian, are:

Hacking Workshops

We’ve got an extensive range of Hacking Workshops. Rooted in the principle of ‘marginal gains’ (that lots of small, easier-to-do 1% improvements makes faster progress than aiming for a large 10% improvement), our Hacking Workshops provide  both insight and immediately actionable changes you can implement  at both an individual and an organisational level. Each Workshop is three hours long and can be delivered virtually or physically. Some examples below:

"The Hacking Inclusion workshop kick-started our journey towards an inclusive culture. It opened up ideas that were not normal for this type of group, bringing out our creativity and providing fresh perspectives. We have now implemented four initiatives that have made a tangible difference.”

- Catherine Gillespie, HR Director, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners

Inclusive Culture Hacking Workshops

Inclusion

Hacking Inclusion is the first hacking workshop we ever developed and remains the most in demand. It provides a foundational understanding of inclusion enabling your teams and leaders to think wider than diversity and how to make real impact.

Intersectionality

Here we explore the meaning of intersectionality. We use it to deepen understanding about the multiple forms of discrimination people face and the value it brings to the workplace. The session looks at the breadth of intersectionality, whilst acknowledging the various privileges we may have but are potentially unaware of.

LGBTQIA+

At Utopia, we’ve supported a range of clients on their journey to LGBTQIA+ inclusion across the globe. We provide training for managers wanting to support their LGBTQIA+ staff as well as deep dive workshops on supporting transgender or non-binary employees.

Ability

Hacking Ability gives insight into how hiring people with disabilities gives a wealth of benefits to businesses, plus the current barriers that prevent this. Most importantly, we show how many of the barriers can be easily broken down to create workplace cultures that are truly inclusive.

Allyship

This workshop teaches you how to transform your understanding of, and actions towards, allyship. Away from surface level to delivering real systemic change. Thanks to a global research programme undertaken with Google Rare, our allyship programmes are proven with evidence to be impactful.

Belonging

In this workshop you'll understand the challenges teams face and identify actionable ways to use the levers of belonging - connection, routine, onboarding, communication, feedback and reward to ensure we all thrive. This is especially important for multi-site or hybrid teams.

Care and Parenting

Carers make up a large proportion of your workforce. Whether that’s caring for children, elderly or disabled relatives, our research shows how stressful and challenging caring for dependents can be. Learn how to identify and hack workplace barriers for carers.

Disadvantage

Around 27% of our potential workforce come from disadvantaged backgrounds.  By excluding them, we’re missing out on potential talent to build our future business. In this workshop we provide valuable insights into how you can make changes to your business to unlock access to a valuable and diverse pool of talent.

Disability

1 in 4 working adults in the UK are disabled, and that number is only increasing as we age as a population. In addition to this, businesses lose billions of pounds by ignoring disabled customers. This workshop equips workplaces with the information, skills and knowledge to build accessible systems and process and workplaces.

Hiring

Hiring the right talent can define your success; getting it wrong can be destructive. A diverse  workforce isn’t a ‘nice-to-have’, it’s essential for business survival. In this workshop we help you understand how you can hack your current hiring processes to ensure you get a more diverse, happier, inclusive and productive workplace.

Neurodiversity

Research has shown time and time again that neurodiverse businesses are more innovative and more profitable. However, workplaces must be equipped with the skills, education and tools to creating inclusive working environments for neurodivergent staff, allowing them to thrive. This workshop shows you how to do this.

“Just got off our Hacking Inclusion workshop and wanted to send an email saying thank you. It was really thought-provoking, and very fulfilling to have such an open, honest dialogue with my colleagues. It was led impeccably, in a really safe and honest way.
